Hydration Base

Instructions for Hydrating the Base with Water Beads

Prepare the Hydration Base:

  • Place the hydration base on a level surface or in the location where you plan on keeping your nest.

Add Water Beads:

  • Locate and open the top portion of the water beads and pour them into the base.

  • Set aside the sealed replacements for future use.

Fill the Base with Water:

  • Pour water into the base until the outer fill basin is nearly full.

Allow Absorption:

  • Let the water stand until all the water has been absorbed.

  • Relocate any water beads that are floating back into the base, as they tend to float at first.

Check Hydration Level:

  • Once hydrated, the beads should have absorbed the water and look fully expanded.

  • Remove any beads that are sitting on top of the bottom layer to ensure proper fit-up with nest.

Note:

  • Vermiculite can be used as a substitute for the water beads.

Following these steps will effectively hydrate the base using water beads.

HOW TO OPEN FOR CLEANING

Step-by-Step Instructions for Cleaning the Window Ring and Nest Components

Remove the Window Ring:

  1. Start by using a coin to gently pop up the corners of the window ring.

  2. It is easier to remove if you start at a corner that has an entrance next to it.

  3. Alternatively, you may find it easier to grasp the inside rim with your fingers.

Clean the Components:4. The base, nest, and polycarbonate window are top shelf dishwasher safe. 5. Do not use the heated dry setting when washing these components. Following these steps will help you effectively clean the window ring and nest components.

Installing the Window Ring and Nest

Check Window Position:

  • Before installing the window ring, check to see if the window is correctly positioned in the recessed area on top of the nest.

Adjust Window Position if Necessary:

  • If you are having difficulty, you may need to bend the window slightly to position the short sides first.

Position the Window Ring:

  • Position the window ring so that the nest entrances match the location of the halfmoon notches.

Place the Nest on the Base:

  • Place the nest in any orientation it fits as you wish on the base.
